Want to be healthy, wealthy, and wise?
If you hated all the mystical voodoo in The Secret, I understand!
Learn the law of attraction for realists, and achieve greatness.
No hype, no smoke and mirrors, and above all, no genies!
"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny." Unknown
Dear Realistic Optimist,
A few years ago, The Secret rocked the world by introducing the law of attraction to the masses. It presented a simple but powerful way of transforming any weakness or suffering into strength, peace, health, and abundance. It quickly drew massive attention, as hordes of people dove in to learn how to create the perfect life with this wonderful secret.
But with this massive attention came massive controversy. Because while The Secret had a lot of slick marketing, it's just too simplistic to represent reality accurately, and to deliver real results. And so millions of people had their hopes dashed.
"If the Universe manifests abundance at a mere thought, why is there so much poverty, starvation, and death?" Larry King
Some people read The Secret and come away thinking that a positive attitude will let them effortlessly walk through walls, dodge bullets, breathe underwater, withstand a nuclear blast, raise the dead, turn water into wine, lead into gold, war into peace, etc. And then they're disappointed when they use the secret and find that they're still broke, sick, lonely, and depressed. In fact, they probably feel worse because they've been misled.
Other people read The Secret and come away thinking that the only secret is that there is no secret; that our thoughts have absolutely no influence on reality, our lives are dictated by the circumstances we're in, and our only weapon is brute force. And then they spend their lives struggling, fighting an uphill battle, working much harder than they need to, and being resentful that life is so hard for them.
But the truth about the law of attraction is somewhere between the extremes. What I have here is an alternative version of The Secret for the realists who value reason over mysticism. It offers all the benefits of The Secret—happiness, love, health, and prosperity—but presented in a down to earth way that doesn't ask for your blind faith.
This isn't about dazzling you with woo-woo mumbo jumbo. It's about turning your life around. Imagine how you'll feel when you have all that you deserve: confidence, passion, security, and inner peace.
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Do thoughts influence reality? Of course. If they don't, then why do football coaches
say inspiring things to their team before a game? Why not just say "your wives are
all whores?" If thoughts don't matter, what difference would it make?
Don't tell me that thoughts don't matter. You can't even raise your hand without
your brain's consent. But once you make up your mind to do it, the required action
follows naturally. If you don't take the action, all that means is that your thought
wasn't strong enough to get your butt in gear.
Of course, this is a very simple case, but I go into more complicated scenarios such as
self-marketing, finding a date, getting a job, building a business, bettering your health, improving sports performance, and the pièce de résistance, attracting checks in the mailbox.
Yes, I actually did attract checks (or electronic deposits), from Google, ClickBank, E-junkie, various affiliate programs, customers for my products, real estate tenants, unexpected bonuses at work, etc. That doesn't mean it happened effortlessly though, and that's where The Secret gets it wrong and leads the reader to delusional fantasies.
"Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything." Napoleon Hill
Don't take things beyond their logical conclusion, as there's a limit to what
thoughts can do. Mastering our thoughts puts us somewhere in that vast space
between powerlessness and omnipotence. In this ebook, we're going to see
how to get the most from life, within the constraints of reality.
Don't lose sight of what The Secret is. It is not the law of attraction itself, but merely one person's interpretation of it. And a pretty extreme one at that. If you liked it, great, just stick with The Secret and all the similar books out there. But what about the people who were turned off by all the supernatural assertions in The Secret?
I don't think it's very constructive to take the attitude of "Well, if you don't believe it, then it sucks to be you." I'm not anti-spiritual personally, but I don't insist on viewing reality through a fixed perspective. And I know that many people need something a lot more down to earth than magical vibrations and all-powerful genies.
For that reason, I present this alternative interpretation of the law of attraction, designed specifically for those of you who would like to overhaul your life with positive thinking, without any spiritual aspects. If someone wants to believe in a higher power, fine, I'm not arguing against that. I'm just clarifying who this ebook is written for.
"Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields to stern resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind." Leonardo da Vinci
I start with the premise that there's no God, no genies, no mystical force, nothing but what we see, what we know, and what reputable scientists tell us. (By its very nature, this ebook is critical of The Secret and religion, so this may be offensive to some people. You've been warned.)
Then I take the parts of the law of attraction that are based in reality, and greatly expand on them, showing how to really get results from positive thinking. (By the way, since the law of attraction is not a scientific law, I call it "the principle of attraction" in the ebook.)
Finally, I clear up all this talk about quantum physics by seeing how The Secret stands up to what real science says. Not pseudoscience like "energy loves you," but real quantum physics from the likes of Niels Bohr, Albert Einstein, Erwin Schrödinger, Werner Heisenberg, and Stephen Hawking. When you learn the scientific truth about attraction, you can unleash its full power without deluding yourself.
(Note: quantum physics is very complicated. While I tried to make it as accessible as possible, I didn't dumb it down at all. Most smart people will not have the necessary background to understand it. If you haven't already been exposed to concepts such as electron clouds, wave-particle duality, and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, this section might not be for you. No problem, I provided a plain English summary, and you can just skip the details.)
I'm not attacking spiritual people; I'm simply catering to all the realists who have been ignored so far. We don't need to be so divided about the law of attraction. There's plenty of room for interpretation, and with the right spin on it, everyone can use the power of positive thinking to create the life you want. No genie required.
"I have believed in the Law of Attraction, although not in the simplistic way it is portrayed in The Secret. Hunter's book is a great way for folk who don't have great spiritual beliefs to take advantage of the positive benefits of the Law of Attraction."

"This area of physics [quantum] is still in debate and neither proven nor disproven. We just don't know if quantum physics is real, and if so, to what level of existence it applies, nor how it is related to the Law of Attraction.
So let's give it the benefit of the doubt. This eBook is an interesting read if you disliked The Secret. Especially if you disliked The Secret but still feel the pull of the Law of Attraction. ;)"

"This e-book is focused on the realists who feel that positive thinking can be beneficial, but without anything supernatural to believe in.
I am a scientific person by nature so I didn't realize that people would take 'The Secret' literally. I assumed that most people would understand that you cannot imagine $100 in your hand and it would just appear, like magic. I guess I was wrong.
I hope in the end you understand that being positive can really have an effect on your life, but that you cannot just wish for something. If you truly desire something, you will act accordingly to achieve your goals.
Have you made up your mind on the Law of Attraction? Or are you on the border? Why not do your research? Read this e-book for a third perspective on the Law of Attraction."
