After reading my post What The Hell Is Value?, you might have been thinking about what it means to create value, or how we can add more value to the world.

Jeremy Day is organizing a group writing project about creating value. See that link for details, but essentially you announce that you’re going to participate, you write a post about creating value by February 1st, and Jeremy will link to all the posts for everyone to read.

He says he’s been thinking a lot lately about how we can become more of a value driven society than a profit driven society. If you want to participate and need an idea for a post, you might consider tackling this question:

If money is what we receive in exchange for providing value, then how exactly does being value driven differ from being profit driven? Discuss. :)

Hi Hunter. An excellent question! Value driven = heart. Profit driven = mind. Wonder what would happen if we turned the tables, and made our minds up to seek value and generated income with heart? Would be an interesting experiment.

    Hi Hunter,

Thanks for getting a post up so quickly. I have a lot of things I want to share with you guys about creating value, but I am even more excited to see what other people’s ideas are! So far about 10 people are participating. I hope we can get even more people on board.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

I’d say that people who focus on value profit from more than just money while profit only values money and ignores the rest.

@ Davina and Alex, great thoughts on the difference between being driven by value and profit!

@ Jeremy, I hope we get even more people too, but 10 is quite a lot anyway. I’m sure it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with.
