How I Attracted A Lamborghini Gallardo In Five Minutes
October 30th, 2008
Email this article to a friend

One day back in April, I was in a Quiznos, staring out the window, and eating the worst sandwich in America. I was thinking about quitting my job because it had just gotten to the point where I was dreading every day. The problem was that I was completely dependent on my salary, so quitting my job would have been irresponsible.
Without a job, how would I pay the mortgage and the rest of the bills? And what about the future? Being unemployed for any significant length of time would mean serious delays for getting my Lamborghini Gallardo. This had always been my “someday” car, because with a price tag as low as $190,000, it was “the poor man’s Lamborghini.”
But I really wanted to quit my job, so I thought that I’d have to just scrimp and save, and put my ridiculous fantasies on hold indefinitely. I said to myself, “Well, I guess I’m not getting my Lamborghini anytime soon.”
Not five minutes later, a shiny white Lamborghini Gallardo drove right past me.
OK, was this some kind of joke? If I had thought of a Honda S2000 or a BMW Z4 I could just pass it off as coincidence, but this was a Lamborghini! There’s not a whole lot in that shopping center either, so the owner had just swung by for something like a haircut, or kabobs, or Taekwondo lessons. It’s not like there was an auto show going on.
And what made this even weirder is that this was the day after I posted about synchronicities. So was this just a coincidence, or a sign from the universe? I have no idea.
There were a couple of problems though. One is that the color was wrong. I was thinking about a green car, and this one was white. More importantly, I was thinking about owning it, not just watching it drive by. Oh well. I guess the universe is sometimes a tease.
I ended up not quitting my job then, but six months later the company shut down, so I’m currently on a mini-retirement. I haven’t seen any more signs since then, but if I happen to come into possession of a Lamborghini, you can be sure I’ll post about it.
Yeah, I know, there’s no such thing as genies. What can I say though? Beliefs don’t have to be reasonable.

Yes…the Universe was probably teasing you, asking you how badly you want it!! And I know that you desire it, don’t you? So put your heart into manifesting a Lamborghini Gallardo! Don’t forget to offer your friends a ride, should you get one!

Hey Hunter,
To satisfy your current urges, you could always pay for a driving experience on a track.
Earlier this year I had a client that sold supercar driving experiences. We met at a hotel to present the proposal for the Web site I was doing for him and then he drove me home in the company Lambo Murciélago LP640. It’s one of about five in the UK. The turning heads as the back spoiler lifted up when we reached 50mph were awesome.
Here’s the Web site I did for him: http://www.6thgearexperience.com It was the white Lambo in the main photo that he took me home in.

Hate to rain on your parade but this seems like just a coincidence. You’ve probably passed a lot of lamborghinis but just didn’t notice them as much. You didn’t attract anything. The law of attraction is a complete myth.

Even if it was nothing more than coincidence, at least you knew to listen. What’s funny, is that the last email I sent last night said, “I love synchronicity.” Then yours was the first this morning.

Hunter, great writing! “the poor man’s Lamborghini.” I loved that!
I definitely think that our intentional thoughts play a big role in our ability to succeed in life. You painted a pretty picture for me to play with the idea.
BTW, I hope that mini-retirement one day turns into a full time position in the blogosphere. Assuming that’s what you’re shooting for. Eric.

Awesome article title. Had me sucked right in from the beginning. Sorry you didn’t get the car, just yet. Law of attraction would dictate that you said you weren’t getting it, so it let you watch it drive by.

“The universe is sometimes a tease” – I like that. I’ve been working outsourcing my manifestations (sort of like the 4-hour work week and The Secret combined). I have an entire team in India imagining me in a BMW 7.

Very entertaining article, Hunter! You’re not the only one who experiences this….I too often think of a desire and then see it close by, but not actually in my possession. It’s definitely a bit annoying, but I actually view it as that on some level I am attracting that thing into my experience, and I beleive that it actually does show some progress in the direction of the desire. Maybe it’s not a tease but simple a sign that if you keep working, it’s on it’s way?
Very funny comment Michael, BTW. I’m sure Rhonda Byrne and Tim would be proud
Who has time to manifest nowadays anyway!

Okay, I’m here to pitch in my view to support the synchronicity idea. Sure, you can just dismiss it as nothing more than a tease or meaningless coincidence, but I don’t think so, and I don’t think you are doing yourself a service by dismissing it as such.
What did it mean? Isn’t it pretty clear? The Universe wanted to encourage you, to hold on to your desire. Don’t worry about the wrong color — that kind of details can be worked out later.
The timing for you to own the car was not right at the time — and maybe not yet at this time — but it will come at its best timing.
BTW this is the second blog posts about synchronicity that I’ve read this week. First one was at my friend Irene’s blog, Light Beckons. Isn’t this a synchronicity itself, too?

Coincidences like your car sighting have been happening to me recently as well. The universe works in such mysterious ways. It always boggles my mind how a string of random events can lead to amazing things. It’s always when you least expect it too!! Keep dreaming.

@ Evelyn, yes, I’ll give you a ride, but I don’t think I can drive it to Singapore, so that will be a reason for you to visit the U.S.!
@ Jamie, I had looked into something like that before. It wasn’t on a track; you’re just renting the car. But the prices were really high–something like $1,500 a day–it seemed much cheaper to just buy the car. But the prices on the site you did are much lower. Granted, you don’t get the car nearly as long, but you also get to go a lot faster.
@ Pete, well obviously the law of attraction can’t be a complete myth. You believe in the placebo effect, right? A sugar pill sometimes cures the disease because the patient believes it will. But in this case, I can totally understand thinking it was just a coincidence. However, I would never pass a Lamborghini without noticing.
@ Writer Dad, the plot sure is thickening, isn’t it? Synchronicity of synchronicities counts as a synchronicity itself, right?
@ Eric, there’s no reason frugality can’t scale, right? Thanks for your well wishes–I’m sure I’ll have a permanent place in the blogosphere someday.
@ Alex, thanks, I did like the title. Good point about saying that I wasn’t getting it. But I was thinking back to The Secret (which I both agree and disagree with), when Bob Proctor says it doesn’t matter if you’re thinking get out of debt or get into debt, if you’re thinking debt, you’ll get debt. By that logic, thinking about not getting a Lamborghini should get me a Lamborghini.
@ Daniel, sure, might as well keep up the vision.
@ Breanne, I forget exactly what you said about each color, but what’s the deal with white? Maybe that’s why the car was the wrong color!
@ Michael, didn’t 4HWW say that someone had outsourced their worrying? I guess that’s a good deal if it stops the person from doing their worrying themselves. I hadn’t thought about outsourcing visualization, but let me know how your experiment goes!
@ Pink Ink, ha ha. I wish I had that kind of certainty.
@ Conrad, that could be it–not the universe saying “ha ha, sucks to be you,” but a sign that it’s on its way.
@ Vered, yeah, I know! But it’s really nice that you stick around even when I write stuff like this.
@ Akemi, it’s always great to hear what you have to say about these things. I didn’t know if it meant, “I heard you, but you can’t have it,” or “It’s on the way,” or “You shouldn’t have said you weren’t going to get it, that’s why it’s driving away.” If it’s supposed to be encouragement, then that’s very nice to know!
@ Carla, I sometimes have a hard time knowing what to believe. It’s great that you’re so sure about what you believe.
@ Amber, it does work in mysterious ways, doesn’t it? Subtle enough to appear random, but in-your-face enough to appear planned.
@ Maria, I remember Steve writing about alpha reflections, but I forget the exact definition, whether there was a beta reflection next, or what. But yes, I’m sure he’d believe it was a sign, and I’ll read that post again.

Green cars are bad luck. I don’t know why exactly, but both of my grandfathers were race car drivers and they totally believe green cars are bad luck. We had a green car once…and got hit by a drunk driver within the first 6 months. When we called my grandpa from the hospital he said “told you so.”. Its a race car driver superstition. There are very few green colored race cars.

In the movie, V for Vendetta, V says, “It means that I, like God, do not play with dice and I don’t believe in coincidences. ”
I don’t believe in coincidences either – especially when it comes to such a unique car appearing at “just the right moment”.
My vote is that it was a sign that you’re on the right track. Or perhaps, that you should set your sites on another color!
(Breanne – interesting about green cars!)

Hi Hunter, what an attractive title for your post! I wrote about synchronicities just 2 days back and I’m reading about it everywhere now, how’s that for “coincidence”?
But seriously, I had to leave you this comment because I SWEAR I saw a green Lamborghini about 2 weeks ago in Singapore, and I thought, “Green??”. I’d never seen a green Lamborghini before so that left an impression. So now that you mentioned your dream car, it’s easy for me to visualize it in all its full glory. Perhaps this is a nudge from the Universe to have your readers chip in and help you with that manifestation exercise.

@ Breanne, OK, I remember that now. I can’t believe he said “I told you so!” I’ll have to think about the color then.
@ Kathy, didn’t Freud believe there are no coincidences? But maybe he meant when it comes to people, not things.
@ Barbara, sorry to tear you away from work. Now I know that you have a weakness for certain titles, if I want to distract you!
@ Irene, really? That’s pretty cool. Maybe it was in a parallel universe–was I driving it? Anyway, I guess I can ask my readers to help with the manifestation. A combination of 4HWW and The Secret, like Michael.
@ Dot Com Dud, that’s what I was thinking too. Especially after what Irene said.
@ Vincent, that’s about $478,000 U.S. Yikes! I wouldn’t turn it away for being the wrong color, I’d just get it painted!

Hi Hunter. Now that you have more time on your hands (or more accurately), your time is in your hands, you have more time to manifest that car. I like synchronicities. Whether or not they mean something, they are entertaining… but, I still think there is something to them.

It’s up to us to use any clue we can to lead us on the right path. I don’t think that lamborghini was a coincidence. It’s a sign that you have to follow your dreams. The only way to get that lamborghini is to take risks.
So make the best of this time off and make as much of a dent in your dreams as possible. If you have to go back to work then maybe you’ll be a few steps closer to your lamborghini.

Perhaps this mini retirement (whether you believe in coincidences or a “higher” plan) is what will get you that Lamborghini. You should consider reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. He had an outrageous idea about being jobless that led him to income levels where, I imagine, cars such as your “someday” car, are paid for with cash.
(he reached his goals with real estate, which, at this time, may not be the easiest place to achieve wealth, however, his idea was to go big and not settle for the average “salary job”. Great book.)
And in regards to your comment:
“…I haven’t seen any more signs since then…”
Well, when you are in a mini retirement, you do see signs, everyday. The mini retirement is a sign.
October 31st, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Hey Hunter, Great post and I am with Akemi…. I think it’s doubtful you’d go by a Lamborghini and NOT take notice! I’ve only seen one a few times and BOY do they leave an impression! The more you begin to know what you want — the more you see these little synchronicities pop up. In the past week I have seen so many things and people linked and by paying attention to them they become like a trail to be followed…. I picture myself in a mini cooper so I see them quite often and smile to myself each time I do! Enjoy the synchronicities and allow them to motivate you to the next step in achieving that dream! Thanks Hunter. Gratefully, Jenny

@ Davina, when you say more time to manifest, do you mean more time to focus on the intention, or more time to do the inspired work that will lead to manifesting the result? I think synchronicities are great, and I just can’t shake the feeling that they mean something.
@ Karl, making a dent in your dreams sounds like it will hurt them! Just kidding, I know what you mean. And that’s the direction I have to be sure I’m always moving in.
@ Urban Panther, I guess that’s better than fast women popping up in your face!
@ Cari, I really like that book. A lot of people criticize it, but I think they’re missing the point. And yes, I guess the mini-retirement itself is a sign.
@ Jenny, I guess now I’m going to be more observant of synchronicities, maybe noticing things that I might miss otherwise. You should follow the mini coopers until they reach their destination and say, “Hi, I’m Jenny, and I think I manifested you!”
@ B. Wilde, yes, maybe that was the point, that finding the right job will get me closer. I’ll definitely keep dreaming, but working too!

I don’t believe in coincidences and there is always a message in our “synchronicities”. Focusing your positive energy and attention to what you desire can be very positive. Perhaps, you can create some positive intentions around that Lamborghini and have the car for real!
