@ Mary, but you provide real value now, don't you? So you're halfway there, you just need time to stick it out and prove your endurance!

I think the definition of an A-List blogger is someone who provides real value to readers. If I read a post by an A-Lister, I can take what I learned there and apply all or part of it to my own life. Granted, not every post provides this to every reader, but the vast majority do.

Another quality of A-List bloggers is endurance. They are still around after many others have fallen off the map. Their blogs might not be high profile, or might be in a relatively obscure niche, but they stick it out over the long haul. I want to get there, but I have a long way to go. :-)

Marys last blog post..<a href="http://affirmeachday.blogspot.com/2008/09/getting-started-with-affirmations.html" rel="nofollow">Getting Started with Affirmations</a>

@ Glen, thanks. Maybe "much less useful" would be more accurate than "almost useless."

@ Cath, maybe Darren will release his copyright one day. Until then, we have to write our own posts!

@ Hayden, and a big WOOHOO to you too! You could enter again if you wanted to, but glad you're content with winning last time.

@ Carla, I think this book is helpful for anyone who wants to get more traffic to their blog, whether they want to be a pro blogger or not. If you love his posts, then you'd love the book!

@ Barbara, a 6-figure requirement makes sense, since that's often what people think of when they think of A-listers.

@ Harmony, I think a lot of people will fall into category C. Even the people who have managed to download WordPress still have trouble with it!

@ Stacey, it would be interesting to ask people what blog they go to first when they get online. That definitely says a lot about a blog.

@ Diane, sorry, you didn't "discover" this blog, you were just the first to stumble this particular post. Sure, this can count as an entry (if you also link) because you put enough thought into your comment, but I'd also like to hear your definition of an A-lister. I'm on Facebook but I don't use it--I'm not even sure of my username!

@ Avani-Mehta, I just figured it's better to be safe than sorry!

@ Glen, yikes! I changed the linking terms immediately, on this post as well as my other contest posts. But David and I didn't specify the exact anchor text to use, just some examples. How is that spammy? If we didn't do that, people would link using our names, which according to Google's arbitrary rules is almost useless. But thanks for the warning!

@ Evelyn, yeah, it's open to you. And you don't even need an idea for a post, just a one-liner at the end of any post you happen to write. Goodness, do people copy the hairstyles of A-list bloggers? I haven't seen anyone else with Yaro's hair!

Is this contest open to those that do not reside in the States? Don't take my question too seriously though...I don't have an idea of a post to write yet.

A-list bloggers are those who have reached celebrity status. They do not have to promote their sites themselves but others will do all the marketing by word-of-mouth for them. They are leaders, facilitators, creators, innovators, market movers, mavericks! They have a fan club; even their hairstyles may be copied. I am not sure if they need 20,000 subscribers to qualify (or whatever the magic number is) as they may just rule over a small enough niche.

I am not sure how to define B-list bloggers. It also depends on whether there is a C- or D- or E-list???

Friendly advice but a good friend of mine and popular blogger http://www.davidairey.com was de-indexed from Google for asking people to link to them with certain anchor text, it is a little spammy as well.

You should just ask people to link to your site in general to be on the safe side :)

P.S. Loved the mention that I can't win Darren ;)

Cheers,
Glen
