Win A Copy Of ProBlogger

ProBlogger

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: This contest allows people to win a copy of ProBlogger the book, not a copy of ProBlogger the blog or a copy of ProBlogger the person. ProBlogger the blog is copyrighted by ProBlogger the person, Darren Rowse. Darren Rowse is a registered trademark of the Rowse family of North Fitzroy, Australia. Consult an attorney if this is confusing.

Want to learn how to create and market a blog with the potential to generate a six-figure income? Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett present a practical guide in ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. You’ll learn how to:

  • Choose subject matter that works for you
  • Handle technical issues
  • Examine different ways your blog can earn income
  • Evaluate your blog’s success
  • Keep content fresh and interesting
  • Use your blog to generate income indirectly

I could go ahead and write a review, but it’s so much easier to just link to FreelanceSwitch’s ProBlogger review.

Here’s your chance to win a copy of this famous book, mailed anywhere in the world. All you have to do is:

1. Subscribe to my blog via RSS or via email.

2. Write a post that links to my main blog page and to this post, so that your readers can have a chance to enter. This can simply be a quick mention at the end of an unrelated post.

I’ll be looking at the trackbacks on this post to see who does this. If your trackback doesn’t appear by the next day for whatever reason, just leave a comment with the URL of your post.

3. Leave a comment below and chime in on the definition of an A-list blogger. I’ve been looking for what makes someone A-list or B-list, but no one seems to offer a definition. I found Are You an A-List Bloglebrity?, which ranks a blog by the number of inbound links in the last 6 months, but I think it’s far too generous, calling me B-list.

I propose this definition: 2,000 subscribers makes you B-list; 20,000 subscribers makes you A-list. Leave a comment and tell us your definition.

If you entered my last random drawing, you automatically get one entry in this contest, but you can complete steps 1-3 above to get another. Non-winning entries in this contest will not roll forward to the next one, because this contest takes hardly any effort at all.

You have until 11:59 PM EST Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 to enter. At that time, a winner will be chosen at random from all entries received. Good luck.

    Hi Hunter,

This sounds like a great contest, I may take you up on it.

What makes an “A list” blogger? Someone who blogs for a living and makes 6 figures.

    Hi Hunter,
Boy, there sure are a lot of us up late at night! Anyway, great idea and good traffic generator.
My thoughts around the A and B blogger are:
A bloggers are leaders – not imitators, but innovators, creating change, leading the way, setting the benchmark.
B bloggers are the good folk that follow them
C bloggers are the poor folk trying to download wordpress. :-) ))

  3. Stacey / Create a Balance Says:

A-list bloggers provide the first blog people go to when they get online. They have passion, drive, and live with intention.

    Hey Hunter,
I just finished your e-book, The Zen of Blogging, and really enjoyed it! The e-book prompted me to check out your blog, and your blog prompted me to stumble it. Lo and behold, I can now be credited with “discovering” your blog. I can’t really believe I’m the first one, but obviously I was the first one to stumble the “Win a Copy of ProBlogger”. (Hey, does this reply count as an entry???)

I also really liked your blog about RSS Feeds, and all together, I was prompted to sign up for the RSS feed.

I’m happy to play “grasshopper” to your Zen-blogmaster (yes, I know who the real master is). Thanks so much for all the great information and inspiration! Now I’ll have to look for you on Facebook.

    Best,
    Diane

You had to put in a clarification that the winner won’t get Darren Rowse or ProBlogger blog. Found this quite amusing :)

  6. Glen Allsopp Says:

Friendly advice but a good friend of mine and popular blogger http://www.davidairey.com was de-indexed from Google for asking people to link to them with certain anchor text, it is a little spammy as well.

You should just ask people to link to your site in general to be on the safe side :)

P.S. Loved the mention that I can’t win Darren ;)

    Cheers,
    Glen

Is this contest open to those that do not reside in the States? Don’t take my question too seriously though…I don’t have an idea of a post to write yet.

A-list bloggers are those who have reached celebrity status. They do not have to promote their sites themselves but others will do all the marketing by word-of-mouth for them. They are leaders, facilitators, creators, innovators, market movers, mavericks! They have a fan club; even their hairstyles may be copied. I am not sure if they need 20,000 subscribers to qualify (or whatever the magic number is) as they may just rule over a small enough niche.

I am not sure how to define B-list bloggers. It also depends on whether there is a C- or D- or E-list???

  8. Hunter Nuttall Says:

@ Barbara, a 6-figure requirement makes sense, since that’s often what people think of when they think of A-listers.

@ Harmony, I think a lot of people will fall into category C. Even the people who have managed to download WordPress still have trouble with it!

@ Stacey, it would be interesting to ask people what blog they go to first when they get online. That definitely says a lot about a blog.

@ Diane, sorry, you didn’t “discover” this blog, you were just the first to stumble this particular post. Sure, this can count as an entry (if you also link) because you put enough thought into your comment, but I’d also like to hear your definition of an A-lister. I’m on Facebook but I don’t use it–I’m not even sure of my username!

@ Avani-Mehta, I just figured it’s better to be safe than sorry!

@ Glen, yikes! I changed the linking terms immediately, on this post as well as my other contest posts. But David and I didn’t specify the exact anchor text to use, just some examples. How is that spammy? If we didn’t do that, people would link using our names, which according to Google’s arbitrary rules is almost useless. But thanks for the warning!

@ Evelyn, yeah, it’s open to you. And you don’t even need an idea for a post, just a one-liner at the end of any post you happen to write. Goodness, do people copy the hairstyles of A-list bloggers? I haven’t seen anyone else with Yaro’s hair!

  9. Glen Allsopp Says:

I’m going to respond to your email now, but it isn’t actually that useless :)

I’m not going to apply for this contest because I won the last one, but WOOHOO to the awesome prize!

  12. Carla Says:

Great contest! I’m not trying to be a “pro blogger” per se but I do want to drive more traffic to my business blog (www.greenandchic.com/blog) to drive traffic to my soon to be web store. I love his articles/posts and read them daily.

  13. Hunter Nuttall Says:

@ Glen, thanks. Maybe “much less useful” would be more accurate than “almost useless.”

@ Cath, maybe Darren will release his copyright one day. Until then, we have to write our own posts!

@ Hayden, and a big WOOHOO to you too! You could enter again if you wanted to, but glad you’re content with winning last time.

@ Carla, I think this book is helpful for anyone who wants to get more traffic to their blog, whether they want to be a pro blogger or not. If you love his posts, then you’d love the book!

  14. Mary Says:

I think the definition of an A-List blogger is someone who provides real value to readers. If I read a post by an A-Lister, I can take what I learned there and apply all or part of it to my own life. Granted, not every post provides this to every reader, but the vast majority do.

Another quality of A-List bloggers is endurance. They are still around after many others have fallen off the map. Their blogs might not be high profile, or might be in a relatively obscure niche, but they stick it out over the long haul. I want to get there, but I have a long way to go. :-)

  15. Hunter Nuttall Says:

@ Mary, but you provide real value now, don’t you? So you’re halfway there, you just need time to stick it out and prove your endurance!
